If not treated, Corten steel will, as it patinas (cosmetic rusting) leave a fine dust on anything that touches it. This has prevented any practical installations where it will be coming into contact with people such as a seating area.

After working with a chemical engineer we have helped design a sealing product which once applied seals the steel, leaving it smooth to the touch while maintaining the desired patina look.
